WHEREAS, New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety, Office of the Attorney General has made grant funds available for law enforcement agencies to participate in the State's SFY21 Body-Worn Camera Grant Program, its goal to provide law enforcement agencies with funding for the purchase of body-worn cameras, ancillary accessories and storage; and

WHEREAS, the City of Newark desires to fund the Department of Public Safety, Police Division's on-going body-worn camera initiative to deploy body-worn cameras to promote accountability, instill community confidence, and improve law enforcement records; and

WHEREAS, on or about April 27, 2021, on behalf of the City of Newark, the Director of the Department of Public Safety, submitted an application to the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety, Office of the Attorney General, requesting grant funding in the amount of $1,019,000.00 from SFY21 Body-Worn Camera Grant Program, to fund the purchase of body cameras, ancillary accessories and storage for Newark Police Div...
