AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A SALARY FOR THE DEPARTMENT HEAD SERVING IN DUAL POSITION OF DIRECTOR OF WATER AND SEWER UTILITIES IN THE DEPARTMENT OF WATER AND SEWER UTILITIES AND INTERIM DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS

WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Water and Sewer Utilities has been serving in the additional position of Interim Director Department of Public Works in the Department of Public Works in an Interim capacity; and
WHEREAS, fair compensation for serving in the dual role and absorbing all the duties and responsibilities of the Department Head for the Department of Public Works justifies supplemental compensation until such time that he is no longer serving as Interim Director of Public Works and is relieved of those responsibilities; and
WHEREAS, such duties include the Director, through the Principal Public Works Manager, divisions and otherwise shall: Be responsible for the proper and efficient conduct of all public works functions c the City government and shall provide advice and service to other departments as needed; Plan, organize, and direct the programs and activities of a comprehensive public works department, such as street repair and maintenance; servicing and maintenance of City owned motor vehicles; care and maintenance of City parks, grounds, shade trees; care and maintenance of public buildings; and collection and removal of street cleaning, refuse collection, snow removal and maintenance of vacant land owned by the City and private property neglected by private owners; Direct studies of public work functions; Administer and manage, through outside contracts, the demolition of structures which are hazardous to the health or safety of the citizens, where such has been duly authorized; Direct pothole repairs and snow removal on City streets; and Be responsible for the hiring, discipline, removal subordinate employees within the Department; and
