AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23:5-2, PARKING PROHIBITED AT CERTAIN TIMES, OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY PROHIBITING PARKING 7AM-6PM MONDAY THROUGH SUNDAY IN FRONT OF 85 JEFFERSON STREET.

WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering received a request for no parking during certain hours in front of 85 Jefferson Street, Our Lady of Fatima Church; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of public safety and general welfare to establish prohibited parking in front of 85 Jefferson Street, Our Lady of Fatima Church, to ensure and improve pedestrian safety and facilitate emergency responses; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering desires to restrict parking in front of 85 Jefferson Street from 7am-9pm Monday through Sunday.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
Section 1. That Section 23:5-2, Parking Prohibited at Certain Times, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended by adding thereto the following:
Jefferson Street:
West side, beginning 170ft. south of the southerly curb line of Ferry Street and extending 67ft. southerly therefrom, from 7:00am to 9:00pm Monday through Sunday.
Section 2. Any existing ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.
Section 4. This ordinance prohibits vehicles from parking at the curbside space between posted signs bearing the legend "NO PARKING 7AM-9PM MONDAY-SUNDAY".
Section 5. This ordinance does not require approval by the Commissioner of Transportation.
