AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23:12-1, CROSSWALKS DESIGNATED, OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY DESIGNATING A MID-BLOCK CROSSWALK ON MT. VERNON PLACE.

WHEREAS, the Division of Traffic and Signals desires to improve safety at the Mt. Vernon School by designating a mid-block crosswalk on Mt. Vernon Place between Tuxedo Parkway and Manor Drive to accommodate the high volume of pedestrians crossing from the school to Ivy Hill Park.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
Section 1. That Section 23:12-1, Crosswalks Designated, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended by adding thereto the following:
Mt. Vernon Place, 210ft. west of the westerly curb line of Tuxedo Parkway
Section 2. Any ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication, and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.
Section 4. This ordinance does not require approval by the Commissioner of Transportation.
STATEMENT
This ordinance designates a mid-block crosswalk on Mt. Vernon Place, 210ft. west of Tuxedo Parkway.
