Whereas, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-120 et Seq., the City of Newark is authorized to appoint up to 50 Constables; and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council appointed Leon Purdie as a constable by Resolution 7RB100511; and
Whereas, the Municipal Council wishes to amend the appointment term from September 21, 2011 to September 20, 2012 to December 22, 2011 and ending on December 22, 2012
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. Leon Purdie, 87 Lenox Street, Newark, New Jersey, be and he is hereby appointed Constable for an amended one year term commencing on December 22, 2011 and ending December 22, 2012, in accordance with his application to perform the duties of serving subpoenas, lockouts and court orders. Resolution 7R9-Bb100511 is amended accordingly.
2. The Municipal Council ratifies this appointment for the period of December 22, 2011 to the date of adoption of this resolution.
3. Prior to enter upon the execution of his office and no later than thirty (30) days after the effective date of the appointment, the aforesaid appointee shall submit a Constable Bond, which shall be approved as to form, amount and sufficiency of Surety by Resolution of the Municipal Council.
