WHEREAS, the late Dawn Reddick was one of the many consummate public servants in this great metropolis as a teacher and educator; and
WHEREAS, Newark residents were very fond of Dawn Reddick and her love for the welfare of our children; and
WHEREAS the late Dawn Reddick leaves behind a legacy of personal and community achievements in both her public and private lifestyles; and
WHEREAS, the Governing Body is seeking to maintain her legacy amongst the residents of this City by designating signage within the City of Newark honoring the many successful years of her unselfish contributions by dedicating the corner of Maple Avenue and Hansbury Avenue as the Dawn Reddick Plaza for ceremonial and honorary purposes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Corner of Maple Avenue and Hansbury Avenue is hereby designated as the Dawn Reddick Plaza for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
2. The official name of said streets shall remain as Maple Avenue and Hansbury Avenue in its entirety.
