Whereas, the Newark Municipal Council want to recognize the many and great contributions that Irish Americans have made to our State and Nation; and
Whereas, the City of Newark, New Jersey through its long and illustrious history has benefitted greatly from the citizens of Irish Heritage; and
Whereas, these sons and daughters of the Old Sod have a glorious place in the history of our fair City and continue to this day to make great strides and accomplishments in many fields of endeavor such as the arts, public service, business and industry, which have enriched the fabric of this great metropolis; and
Whereas, the Newark Municipal Council wishes to publicly recognize these magnificent contributions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT IT DOES HEREBY DECLARE THE WEEK OF MARCH 9, 2012 THROUGH MARCH 17, 2012 AS THE IRISH HERITAGE WEEK IN THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY.
