Whereas, Reverend Carlos Rivera was a community activist and a leader among the people of this great City; and
Whereas, Reverend Carlos Rivera dedicated his life to the Lord as well as to his many church followers; and
Whereas, Reverend Carlos Rivera is remembered by the residents of this great metropolis for his many humanitarian efforts; and
Whereas, the Newark Municipal Council wants to commemorate his life by designating street signage in his honor for all residents to enjoy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT
1.it does hereby authorize the naming of the intersection of East Kinney Street and Jefferson Street as the Reverend Carlos Rivera Square, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
2.The official names of said streets shall remain East Kinney Street and Jefferson Street in their entirety.
