WHEREAS, the Division of Traffic and Signals desires to improve safety at the new signalized intersection of Bergen Street and West Runyon Street, in the South Ward, by prohibiting right turn on red at all times; and
WHEREAS, at the intersection of the Bergen Street and West Runyon Street, currently right turns on red are prohibited from 7AM-5PM School Days, and we desire to prohibit right turn on red at all times in order to provide safer vehicular movements and allow safer pedestrian crossings at this intersection.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
Section 1. Section 23:3-5, No Turn on Red, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended by deleting thereto the following:
