AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23:3-2, LEFT TURNS, OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY PROHIBITING LEFT TURNS WESTBOUND AT THE INTERSECTION OF WILSON AVENUE, FERRY STREET AND MERCHANT STREET.

WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering, Division of Traffic and Signals desires to improve safety at the signalized intersection of Wilson Avenue, Ferry Street and Merchant Street in the East Ward, by prohibiting left turns while traveling west on Ferry Street to east on Wilson Avenue.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
Section 1. That Section 23:3-2, Left Turns, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended by adding thereto the following:
West on Ferry Street to East on Wilson Avenue
Section 2. Any existing ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.
Section 4. This ordinance does not require approval by the Commissioner of Transportation.
Statement:
This ordinance prohibits vehicles from making a left turn while traveling west on Ferry Street to east on Wilson Avenue, in the East Ward.
