WHEREAS, the New Jersey Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Child Nutrition Programs’ Summer Food Service Program reimburses the City of Newark for meals served to children who live in areas in which at least 50% of the children qualify for free or reduced-price meals under the National School Lunch Program; and

WHEREAS, the City of Newark provides meals to Newark children through SuNuP Summer Food Program and is in need of additional funding to sustain the program and continue the provision of meals for the summer of 2012; and

WHEREAS, on April 15, 2012, on behalf of the City of Newark, the Director of the Department of Child and Family Well-Being submitted an application to the New Jersey Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Child Nutrition Programs, requesting grant funding in the amount of $920,467.63 from the 2012 Summer Food Service Program, for the provision of meal services to children of the City of Newark through the SuNuP Program; and
