WHEREAS, the late Gloria del Toro was a consummate public servant as a teacher for thirty years in the City of Newark, New Jersey; and
WHEREAS, Newark residents along with her family members were very fond of her hard work that she put in on behalf of Newark's children; and
WHEREAS, the governing body is seeking to maintain her legacy amongst the many residents of this City by designating signage within the Newark community honoring this community servant, by naming the corner of Mt .Prospect Avenue and Abington Street the Gloria del Toro Plaza for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Corner of Mt. Prospect Avenue and Abington Street is herein designated as "Gloria del Toro Plaza" for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
2. The official name of said streets shall remain Mt. Prospect Avenue and Abington Street in their entirety.
