WHEREAS, on September 7, 1994, the Municipal Council of the City of Newark, New Jersey adopted Resolution 7Rcm 090794 “designating the City of Kumasi, Ghana, West Africa as a Sister City; and

WHEREAS, by Resolution 7Rbz adopted January 18, 1995, the Newark Municipal Council established a Sister Cities Intercultural Program through the Ghanaian Government and Sister Cities Intercultural Program with the cities of Kumasi and Cape Coast Ghana, with primary partnership emphasis on economic development, educational, health and intercultural initiatives; and

WHEREAS, Kwame Nsiah Apau and the Adimedim Kyenku Labi Ahenfie Cultural Group and its membership (approximately 16 people) have applied for non-immigrant visas to visit the United States on or about July 26, through July 30, 2012.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

It does hereby support the visa application of Kwame Nsiah Apau and the Adimedim Kyenku Labi Ahenfie Cultural Group of Ghana, West Africa and his delegation of (16) persons from the Ashanti Region, Ghana, West Africa to the United States of America in celebration of the 1st Anniversary of the hosting of the street dedication, “Ghanaian Way” in honor of the Ghanaian population in the City of Newark, New Jersey.

A certified copy of this resolution be forwarded to the United States Diplomatic Mission in Ghana and to our U.S. Senate and Congres...
