WHEREAS, Khary Orr was affectionately known as KO and was a lifetime resident of the City of Newark, New Jersey; and
WHEREAS, Khary Orr was a graduate of Science High School and received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Physics from Lincoln University; and
WHEREAS, Khary Orr was employed in a number of positions including as an employee of the City of Newark as a Project Coordinator; and
WHEREAS, Khary Orr departed this life at an early age leaving behind a host of family members and friends along with a son known as Khari Black-Orr; and
WHEREAS, Kharey Orr was an active member of Union Chapel AME Church where he served as an Acolyte and YTD President; and
WHEREAS, the residents of the City of Newark, New Jersey is seeking to have the name of Khary Orr memorialized for all residents to honor on his behalf; and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council of the City of Newark wishes to designate the corner of Eckert Avenue and Seymour Avenue as the Khary Orr Plaza for ceremonial and honorary purposes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY THAT:
1. The Corner of Eckert Avenue and Seymour Avenue shall be named in honor of the late Mr. Khary Orr for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
2. The names of said streets shall remain Eckert Avenue and Seymour Avenue in their entirety.
