      WHEREAS, according to the amended regulations set forth in N.J.S.A. 54:5-19 et seq., all taxes and municipal water and sewer, and other lienable charges remain in arrears on the eleventh day of the eleventh month of the current fiscal year, shall be subject to an accelerated tax sale and offered for sale of lien to the lowest bidder or highest premium bidder at a tax sale to be conducted and completed no earlier than in the last month of the fiscal year, at 920 Broad Street, Newark, New Jersey 07102; and  
 
WHEREAS, there are delinquencies appearing in the records of the City of Newark for monies levied on the owners of record as they appear in the official tax list filed in the Office of the Tax Collector of the City of Newark, as well as listings from the City of Newark's Department  of Water and Sewer Utilities; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and  Municipal Council of the City of Newark, County of Essex, State of New Jersey and the Tax Collector of the municipality deem it to be in the best interests of the taxpayers of the City to hold an Accelerated Tax Sale for taxes, water and sewer and other lienable charges in arrears and still unpaid on the eleventh day of the eleventh month of the budget year in which they became delinquent and are still unpaid, for properties located in the municipality, which sale shall be conducted and completed no earlier than in the last month of the fiscal year, in this instance, December 2012, with official notices of sale being advertised and notice to the owners of record according to the requirements of N.J.S.A. 54:5-19 et seq.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
 
1. The City of Newark's Tax Collector is hereby authorized to conduct an Accelerated Tax Sale for taxes, water and sewer and other lienable charges in arrears and still unpaid on the eleventh day of the eleventh month of the budget year in which they became delinquent and are still unpaid, for properties located in the municipality, which sale shall  be conducted and completed no earlier than in the last month of the fiscal year, in this instance, December 2012, with official notices of sale being advertised and notice to the owners of record according to the requirements of N.J.S.A. 54:5-19 et seq.
 
2. The City Clerk  shall file two (2) certified copies of this Resolution with the Director of Local Government Services.

This Resolution authorizes the Tax Collector to conduct an Accelerated Tax Sale for Calendar Year 2012.
