WHEREAS, Yomo Toro was a renowned musician that played Folkloric Guitar and performed all over the world for over 50 years; and
 
WHEREAS, Yomo Toro was loved and appreciated by the many residents of Hispanic descent in the City of Newark, New Jersey; and
 
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council of the City of Newark wants to keep the memory of this professional entertainer alive throughout the community by naming Summer Avenue and Elwood Avenue in his memory for ceremonial and honorary purposes; and
 
T WHEREAS he Governing Body asks all residents of the Newark community to join with them during this ceremony scheduled for August 26, 2012 at 1:00 P.M.; and
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT : it does hereby authorize the naming of Summer Avenue and Elwood Avenue as Yomo Toro Plaza for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
 
1.      Naming of Summer Avenue and Elwood Avenue as Yomo Toro Plaza for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
 
2.      The names of said streets shall remain Summer Avenue and Elwood Avenue in their entirety.
