Whereas, the Newark Municipal Council is desirous of creating new revenue sources and income streams; and
Whereas, the proposed establishment of a Joint Commission of Revenue, which will be comprised of Municipal Council Members, representatives from the Mayors' office and concerned residents, will be responsible for identifying new sources of income through innovation, research, investigation and study of other municipalities and agencies proven efforts; and
Whereas, the establishment of the Joint Commission of Revenue will provide for a single entity in City government solely responsible for generating new ideas on how to increase the City's revenues and financial position.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT the Municipal Council establish the formation of a Joint Commission of Revenue charged with the responsibility of identifying new streams of revenue sources and maximizing the income stream of its present assets.
