Whereas, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-120 et seq., the City of Newark is authorized to appoint up to 50 Constables and to establish the term for such appointment for a three-year term, unless a one (1) year term is fixed by resolution; and
Whereas, Tyrone Johnson, Sr., seeks appointment as a Constable, and the Municipal Council is desirous of fixing the term of his appointment at three (3) years; and
Whereas, Tyrone Johnson, Sr., shall qualify within thirty (30) days of his appointment in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A:9-120, et seq.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. Tyrone Johnson, Sr., 825 South 13th Street, Newark, New Jersey, be and he is hereby appointed Constable for a term of three (3) years, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A:9-121, in accordance with his application to serve warrants and subpoenas.
2. Prior to entering upon the execution of his office and no later than thirty (30) days after the approval of the resolution of appointment, the aforesaid appointee shall submit a Constable Bond, which shall be approved as to form, amount and sufficiency of Surety by Resolution of the Municipal Council.
