WHEREAS, at the request of New Jersey Transit in order to reduce bus queues into the intersection, the City of Newark, Division of Traffic and Signals, agrees with the relocation of the bus stop, and pursuant to N.J.S.A 39:4-197(3)(a), the following described location is relocated as a bus stop:
DELETED BUS STOP:
1. In the South Ward, along Elizabeth Avenue, northbound on the easterly side at:
East Bigelow Street, far side
Beginning at the northerly curb line of East Bigelow Street and extending 100' northerly therefrom.
ADDED BUS STOP:
2. In the South Ward, along Elizabeth Avenue, northbound on the easterly side at:
Stanton Street, nearside
Beginning at the southerly curb line of Stanton Street and extending 180' southerly therefrom.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 39:4-197(3)(a) of Title 39 of the Revised Statutes of New Jersey, a municipality may by ordinance, resolution or regulation designate or delete a bus stop.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. In the South Ward, the following described location be hereby deleted:
Along Elizabeth Avenue, northbound on the easterly side, at East Bigelow Street far side, beginning at the northerly curb line of East Bigelow Street and extending 100' northerly therefrom.
2. In the South Ward, the following described location be hereby added:
Along Elizabeth Avenue, northbound on the easterly side, at Stanton Street nearside, beginning at the southerly curb line of Stanton Street and extending 180' southerly therefrom.
3. No Municipal funds need to be expended for this act.
4. No Amendment will be made to this resolution without the approval of the Municipal Council of the City of Newark.
5. Upon approval, the Engineering Department will forward a copy of this resolution to the City Clerk's Office to notify them of the Local Government's approval for the relocation of a bus stop as stated.
6. Upon approval, a certified copy of this resolution shall be forwarded to New Jersey Transit to notify them of the Local Government's approval for the relocation of a bus stop as stated.
7. Pursuant to NJSA 39:4-8 (e) of Title 39 of the Revised Statutes of New Jersey, the proposed bus stop relocation does not require New Jersey Department of Transportation's approval.
STATEMENT
This resolution designates the relocation of a bus stop in the South Ward as follows:
Deletion: Along Elizabeth Avenue, northbound on the easterly side at East Bigelow Street, far side location, beginning at the northerly curb line of East Bigelow Street and extending 100' northerly therefrom.
Addition: Along Elizabeth Avenue, northbound on the easterly side at Stanton Street, nearside location, beginning at the southerly curb line of Stanton Street and extending 180' southerly therefrom.
