WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-120 et seq., the City of Newark is authorized to appoint fifty (50) Constables to establish the term for such appointment at one (1) or three (3) years; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark wishes to implement the three (3) year option.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. Santiago B. Velazquez, 241 Broome Street, Newark, New Jersey 07108, be and he is hereby appointed Constable for a term of three (3) years in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A:9-121, in accordance with his application to serve subpoenas, writs and warrants.
2. Prior to entering upon the execution of his office and no later than thirty (30) days after the adoption of this resolution, the aforesaid appointee shall submit a Constable Bond, which shall be approved as to form, amount and sufficiency of Surety by Resolution of the Municipal Council.
3. The term of appointment shall be for a period of three (3) years from the date of adoption of this resolution to the expiration date of the Constable Bond, whichever occurs first.
