WHEREAS, the United States Department of Homeland Security through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has implemented the FY2010 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFFG) - Federal Communication Standards and projected Narrow Banding requirements to eligible municipalities and fire districts; and

WHEREAS, Resolution 7R6-a 070711, authorized the Mayor and/or his designee the Director of Fire to apply for and accept funds from the United States Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency, for the purchase of upgraded communication equipment for the period commencing March 5, 2011 and terminating Mach 4, 2012 (A copy of the Resolution is attached) ; and

WHEREAS, the Fire Department requested an extension of the grant performance period and on January 7, 2013, FEMA approved the request and amended the Grant Period of Performance and Article III of the Grant Agreement to extend the grant from March 5, 2011 through April 20, 2013, all other terms and conditions of the grant remain unchanged (A copy of the approval extension letter is attached).
