Title

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23:15-1, STOP INTERSECTIONS, OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY DESIGNATING 8^TH AVENUE AND SPRING STREET A STOP SIGN INTERSECTION.

Body

WHEREAS, the Division of Traffic and Signals desires to improve safety at the intersection of 8^th Avenue and Spring Street by requiring drivers to stop on 8^th Avenue before entering the path of vehicles traveling on Spring Street, in the Central Ward.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

      Section 1..  That Section 23:15-1, Stop Intersections, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended by adding thereto the following:

      8^th Avenue and Spring Street with stop on 8th Avenue

      Section 2.  Any ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.

      Section 3.   This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.

Section 4.  This ordinance does not require approval by the Commissioner of Transportation.

                              STATEMENT

This ordinance establishes the intersection of 8^th Avenue and   Spring Street as a stop intersection with vehicles stopping on 8^th Avenue, in the Central Ward.
