      WHEREAS, Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey-College of Nursing, hereinafter referred to as “University”, offers Nursing Education Programs to develop specific educational objectives for student experiences as well as in joint planning and evaluation of these experiences; and
 
WHEREAS, the University shall provide the academic preparation of the students through classroom instruction and laboratory practice; and  
 
      WHEREAS, the City of Newark desires to facilitate a nursing education program by providing clinical experience, including but not limited to medical care services, pediatric and immunization clinical services; and
 
WHEREAS, the City of Newark desires to enter into a Nursing Education Affiliation Agreement, with the University for the period of August 1, 2012 through July 31, 2014, with an option to renew annually, subject to Municipal Council approval.
 
 
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
 
1.          The Mayor and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Child and Family Well-Being, are hereby authorized to enter into and execute an Agreement with Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey-College of Nursing, 180 University Avenue, Suite 102, Newark, New Jersey 07102, to develop specific educational objectives for student experiences as well as in joint planning and evaluation of these experiences, for the period of August 1, 2012 through July 31, 2014, with an option to renew annually, subject to Municipal Council approval.

2.      The Agreement is hereby ratified from August 1, 2012 to the date of adoption of this authorizing resolution.
 
3.      There shall be no monetary compensation paid by the City of Newark to the University for services provided by students during the clinical experiences.
 
4.          The Director of the Department of Child and Family Well-Being shall file a duly executed copy of the Agreement with the City Clerk.
 
STATEMENT:
 
This resolution ratifies and authorizes the Mayor and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Child and Family Well-Being, to enter into and execute an Agreement with Rutgers, State University of New Jersey-College of Nursing, 180 University Avenue, Suite 102, Newark, New Jersey 07102, to provide clinical experiences including, but not limited to medical care services, pediatric and immunization clinical services for the students for the period of August 1, 2012 through July 31, 2014, with an option to renew annually. There shall be no monies expended by the City of Newark under the Agreement.
