AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23:15-2, MULTIWAY STOP INTERSECTIONS, OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY DESIGNATING WEST RUNYON STREET AND RIDGEWOOD AVENUE AS A MULTIWAY STOP SIGN INTERSECTION.

Body
WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering desires to improve safety at the intersection of West Runyon Street and Ridgewood Avenue, in the South Ward by requiring drivers to stop at all approaches before entering the intersection; and
 
WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering, Division of Traffic and Signals completed a multi-way stop control warrant study on March 19, 2013 as per the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) by which this intersection met the conditions for a multi-way stop sign intersection.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
 
      Section 1.  That Section 23:15-2, Multiway Stop Intersections, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended by adding thereto the following:
 
            West Runyon Street and Ridgewood Avenue
 
      Section 2.  Any ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with this Ordinance are hereby repealed.
 
      Section 3.  This Ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.
      
Section 4.  This Ordinance does not require approval by the Commissioner of Transportation.
 
 
STATEMENT
 
      This Ordinance places Stop Signs on all the intersection approaches of West Runyon Street and Ridgewood Avenue, in the South Ward.
