AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 15, STOP INTERSECTIONS, YIELD INTERSECTIONS AND THROUGH STREETS, SECTION 23:15-1, STOP INTERSECTIONS, OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC  OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY DESIGNATING WEBSTER STREET AND 7TH AVENUE A STOP SIGN INTERSECTION.
 
Body
WHEREAS, the Division of Traffic and Signals desires to improve safety at the intersection of Webster Street and 7th Avenue by requiring drivers to stop on Webster Street before entering the path of vehicles traveling on 7th Avenue, in the Central Ward.
 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
 
      Section 1..  That Section 23:15-1, Stop Intersections, of Title 23, Traffic, Chapter 15, Stop Intersections, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended by adding thereto the following:
 
      Webster Street and 7th Avenue, with stop on Webster Street
      
      Section 2.  Any ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
 
      Section 3.   This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.
 
Section 4.  This ordinance does not require approval by the Commissioner of Transportation.
 
      STATEMENT
This ordinance establishes the intersection of Webster Street and 7th Avenue as a stop intersection with vehicles stopping on Webster Street before entering the path of vehicles traveling on 7th Avenue, in the Central Ward.
