Whereas, District Leader Troy Battle was affectionately known and was a lifetime resident of the City of Newark, New Jersey; and
Whereas, District Leader Troy Battle was a resident of the West Ward and a District Leader for the residents of the West Ward; and
Whereas, District Leader Troy Battle was well respected by the many residents of the West Ward of the City of Newark; and
Whereas, District Leader Troy Battle was an active member of the West Ward having been involved with the many programs that serviced the West Ward residents; and
Whereas, the residents of Columbia Avenue of the City of Newark, New Jersey is seeking to have the name of District Leader Troy Battle memorialized for all residents to honor on his behalf; and
Whereas, the Municipal Council of the City of Newark wishes to designate the corner of Columbia Avenue between Plymouth Street and West Grove Terrace as District Leader Troy Battle Plaza for ceremonial and honorary purposes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY THAT:
1. Columbia Avenue between Plymouth Street and West Grove Terrace shall be named District Leader Troy Battle Plaza for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
2. The names of said streets shall remain Columbia Avenue between Plymouth Street and West Grove Terrace shall remain the same in their entirety...
