Whereas, the Department of Fire continues its efforts to increase Fire Fighter survivability with the need for the required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) while performing the duties of firefighting; and
Whereas, the United States Department of Homeland Security through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has implemented the FY2012 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFFG) to eligible municipalities and fire districts; and
Whereas, on July 6, 2012, on behalf of the City of Newark, the Director of the Department of Fire submitted an application to the United States Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency, 500 C Street, S.W., Washington DC, 20528, requesting grant funding in the amount of $266,800.00 to aid in our continuous efforts of increasing Fire Fighter survivability with the need for the required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) while performing th...
