AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23:15-1, STOP INTERSECTIONS, OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY DESIGNATING 4TH STREET AND 3RD AVENUE A STOP SIGN INTERSECTION.

WHEREAS, the Division of Traffic and Signals desires to improve safety at the intersection of 4th Street and 3rd Avenue by requiring drivers to stop on 4th Street before entering the path of vehicles traveling on 3rd Avenue, in the North Ward.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
Section 1.. That Section 23:15-1, Stop Intersections, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended by adding thereto the following:
4th Street and 3rd Avenue with stop on 4th Street
Section 2. Any ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.
Section 4. This ordinance does not require approval by the Commissioner of Transportation.
STATEMENT
This ordinance establishes the intersection of 4th Street and 3rd Avenue as a stop intersection with vehicles stopping on 4th Street, in the North Ward.
