WHEREAS, New Jersey Transit has requested the relocation of several bus stops in order to provide safer movement of NJ Transit buses, and the City of Newark, Division of Traffic and Signals has reviewed and approves these requests, and pursuant to N.J.S.A 39:4-197(3)(a), the following described location are relocated as a bus stop:
ADDED BUS STOP:
1. In the Central Ward, along Irvine Turner Boulevard, northbound on the easterly side thereof:
Muhammad Ali Avenue, far side:
Beginning at the northerly curb line of Muhammad Ali Avenue and extending 100 feet northerly therefrom.
2. In the East Ward, along Raymond Boulevard, westbound on the northerly side thereof:
Brill Street, far side:
Beginning at the westerly curb line of Brill Street and extending 100 feet westerly therefrom.
3. In the South Ward, along Hawthorne Avenue, eastbound on the southerly side thereof:
Wainwright Street, far side:
Beginning at the easterly curb line of Wainwright Street and extending 100 feet easterly therefrom.
DELETED BUS STOP:
4. In the Central Ward, along Irvine Turner Boulevard, northbound on the easterly side thereof:
Muhammad Ali Avenue, near side:
Beginning at the southerly curb line of Muhammad Ali Avenue and extending 105 feet southerly therefrom.
5. In the East Ward, along Raymond Boulevard, westbound on the northerly side thereof:
Brill Street, near side:
Beginning at the easterly curb line of Brill Street and extending 105 feet easterly therefrom.
6. In the South Ward, along Hawthorne Avenue, eastbound on the southerly side thereof:
Leslie Street, near side:
Beginning at the westerly curb line of Leslie Street and extending 105 feet westerly therefrom.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 39:4-197(3)(a) of Title 39 of the Revised Statutes of New Jersey, a municipality may by ordinance, resolution or regulation designate or delete a bus stop.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. In the Central Ward, the following described location is hereby added:
Along Irvine Turner Boulevard, northbound on the easterly side, at Muhammad Ali Avenue, (farside) beginning at the northerly curb line of Muhammad Ali Avenue and extending 100 feet northerly therefrom.
In the East Ward, the following described location is hereby added:
Along Raymond Boulevard, westbound on the northerly side, at Brill Street, (far side) beginning at the westerly curb line of Brill Street and extending 100 feet westerly therefrom.
In the South Ward, the following described location is hereby added:
Along Hawthorne Avenue, eastbound on the southerly side at Wainwright Street, (far side) beginning at the easterly curb line of Wainwright Street and extending 100 feet easterly therefrom.
2. In the Central Ward, the following described location is hereby deleted:
Along Irvine Turner Boulevard, northbound on the easterly side, at Muhammad Ali Avenue, (near side) beginning at the southerly curb line of Muhammad Ali Avenue and extending 105 feet southerly therefrom.
In the East Ward, the following described location is hereby deleted:
Along Raymond Boulevard, westbound on the northerly side, at Brill Street, (near side) beginning at the easterly curb line of Brill Street and extending 105 feet easterly therefrom.
In the South Ward, the following described location is hereby deleted:
Along Hawthorne Avenue, eastbound on the southerly side at Leslie Street, (nears ide) beginning at the westerly curb line of Leslie Street and extending 105 feet westerly therefrom.
3. No Municipal funds need to be expended for this act.
4. No amendment will be made to this resolution without the approval of the Municipal Council of the City of Newark.
5. Upon approval, the Department of Engineering will forward a copy of this resolution to the Office of the City Clerk to notify them of the Local Government’s approval for the relocation of bus stops as stated.
6. Upon approval, the Department of Engineering will forward a certified copy of this resolution to New Jersey Transit to notify them of the Local Government’s approval for the relocation of bus stops as stated.
7. Pursuant to N.J.S.A 39:4-8 (e) of Title 39 of the Revised Statutes of New Jersey, the proposed bus stop relocations does not require New Jersey Department of Transportation’s approval.

Relocation of bus stops located at Irvine Turner Boulevard and Muhammad Ali Avenue in the Central Ward, Raymond Boulevard and Brill Street in the East Ward and Hawthorne Avenue and Wainwright Street in the South Ward.
