WHEREAS, the Newark Police Foundation of New Jersey, 744 Broad Street, 26th Floor, Newark New Jersey 07102, wishes to donate to the Newark Police Department twenty (20) mounted helmets and twenty-four (24) motorcycle helmets which have a monetary value of Seven Thousand Five Hundred and Thirty Nine Dollars and Ninety Seven Cents ($7,539.97) as requested by the Newark Police Director on or about April 17, 2013; and

WHEREAS, this donation would ensure that the Mounted Officers and Motorcycle Officers are safely protected while performing their duties; and

WHEREAS, the Newark Police Department wishes to accept the gift from the Newark Police Foundation of New Jersey as permitted by N.J.S.A. 40A:5-29; and

WHEREAS, the Newark Police Foundation of New Jersey fully understands and agrees that it is not entitled to receive any direct benefit from the City of Newark in exchange for its gift and shall receive only the indirect benefit of furthering its mission of making the City and its Police Officers safer through its gift.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
