Whereas, Phyllis Balmir of the City of Newark, New Jersey has played a major role in the productivity of this community; and  

Whereas, the residents of the City of Newark is very fond of the accomplishments of this consummate public servant; and

Whereas Phyllis Balmir Way self-sacrifice helped to build on the Social, Health, Educational Welfare and Political Progress of this community; and

Whereas, the Newark Municipal Council wants to commemorate the progress made by Phyllis Balmir.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT, it does hereby authorize the naming of North 11^th Street between Bloomfield Avenue and Abington Avenue  as Phyllis Balmir Way for honorary and ceremonial purposes.

1.      Naming North 11^th Street between Bloomfield Avenue and Abington Avenue as Phyllis Balmir Way, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.

2.      The names of said streets shall remain North 11^th Street between Bloomfield Avenue and Abington Avenue in their entirety.
