WHEREAS, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (Rutgers) engages in collaborative efforts to utilize its scholarship and expertise to address the needs and challenges of the communities it serves - local, state, nationally and globally to advance its goals as an anchor institution; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark desires to enter into a partnership with the School of Public Affairs and Administration at Rutgers-Newark (Rutgers) to jointly develop a Newark Application (Newark APP) for computers and smart phones that will facilitate citizen access to City services and promote a wide range of opportunities to promote the benefits of the City of Newark (cultural, educational, recreational) as a destination city (Memorandum of Understanding is attached); and
WHEREAS, Rutgers will incur the costs associated with the development of the Newark APP; and
WHEREAS, Rutgers agrees to donate the above services as a gift and expects nothing in return, and will receive nothing in return; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark wishes to accept this gift pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:5-29.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
