WHEREAS, the Newark Municipal Council is desirous of supporting a 2014 Battle of the Badges Softball Tournament in honor of police officers who have been killed in the line of duty, to be held at Branch Brook Park (3 Diamonds) Newark, New Jersey 07104 on Saturday, August 9, 2014 and Sunday, August 10, 2014, from 10:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M.; and

WHEREAS, the 2014 event will be hosted by the Municipal Council as a memorial to Jersey City Police Officer Melvin Santiago, who was killed on Sunday, July 13, 2014; and

WHEREAS, the Newark Municipal Council has indicated its support for this wholesome event for the benefit of Newark residents by approving this Hold Harmless and Indemnification Agreement with the Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, 115 Clifton Avenue, Newark, New Jersey 07104.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

1. The Municipal Council of the City of Newark supports the issuance of a Hold Harmless and Indemnification Agreement, drawn by the City of Newark Insurance Fund Commission for the benefit of the Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, 115 Clifton Avenue, Newark, New Jersey 07104, for any claims arising out of the City of Newark's use of Bran...
