AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23:12-1, CROSSWALKS DESIGNATED, OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY DESIGNATING A MID-BLOCK CROSSWALK ON OSBORNE TERRACE. (South Ward)

WHEREAS, the Division of Traffic and Signals has identified an existing mid-block crosswalk on Osborne Terrace between Lyons Avenue and Lehigh Avenue which was constructed by Newark Beth Israel Medical Center; and
WHEREAS, the Division of Traffic and Signals desires to formally adopt this as a mid-block crosswalk which accommodates the high volume of pedestrians traveling between the parking deck and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
Section 1. That Section 23:12-1, Crosswalks Designated, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended by adding thereto the following:
Osborne Terrace, 160 feet north of the northerly curb line of Lyons Avenue
Section 2. Any ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication, and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.
Section 4. This ordinance does not require approval by the Commissioner of Transportation.
STATEMENT
This ordinance designates a mid-block crosswalk on Osborne Terrace, 160 feet north of the northerly curb line of Lyons Avenue (South Ward).
