WHEREAS, the residents of the City of Newark, New Jersey have played a major role in the productivity of this community; and
WHEREAS, the residents of the City of Newark are very fond of the accomplishments of this consummate public servant; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Charles Thompson devoted his time and effort and self-sacrifice to help build on the social, health and welfare of this community; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Municipal Council wants to commemorate the progress made by Pastor Charles Thompson by designating street signage in his honor for all residents to enjoy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT it does hereby authorize the naming of South Orange Avenue and Halstead Street as Pastor Charles Thompson Way for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
1. Naming of South Orange Avenue and Halstead Street as Pastor Charles Thompson Way for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
2. The names of said streets shall remain South Orange Avenue and Halstead Street in their entirety.
