AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23:3-2, LEFT TURNS, OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY PROHIBITING LEFT TURNS WESTBOUND AT THE INTERSECTION OF COEYMAN STREET AND MT. PROSPECT AVENUE.

WHEREAS, the Division of Traffic and Signals desires to improve safety at the intersection of Coeyman Street and Mt. Prospect Avenue, in the North Ward by prohibiting left turns while traveling west on Coeyman Street to south on Mt. Prospect Avenue.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
Section 1. That Section 23:3-2, No Left Turns, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended by adding thereto the following:
West on Coeyman Street to south on Mt. Prospect Avenue
Section 2. Any existing ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.
Section 4. This ordinance does not require approval by the Commissioner of the State Department of Transportation.
STATEMENT
This ordinance prohibits vehicles from making a left turn west on to Coeyman Street to south on Mt. Prospect Avenue, in the North Ward.
