AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23:15-2, MULTI-WAY STOP INTERSECTIONS, OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY DESIGNATING RUTHERFORD STREET AND AVENUE P AS A MULTI-WAY STOP SIGN INTERSECTION.

WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering desires to improve safety at the intersection of Rutherford Street and Avenue P, in the East Ward,by requiring drivers to stop at the Eastbound and Northbound approaches before entering the intersection.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
 
      Section 1.  That Section 23:15-2, Multi-way Stop Intersections, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended by adding thereto the following:
 
Rutherford Street and Avenue P (Stops for Northbound and Eastbound vehicles)
 
      Section 2.  Any ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
 
      Section 3.  This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.
      
Section 4.  This ordinance does not require approval by the State Department of Transportation.
 
STATEMENT
This ordinance places Stop signs on the Northbound and Eastbound intersection approaches of Rutherford Street and Avenue P, in the East Ward.
