NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

Section 1: Title II, Administration, Chapter 4, Section 22E Procurement of Insurance Brokerage Services Through Competitive Contracting Processes, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended to authorize the use of the Insurance Exception of Local Public Contracts Law for the procurement of Insurance provided the City of Newark retained its Insurance Broker or Consultant in compliance with this Ordinance, as follows:
n. In the event, the City obtains the services of an Insurance Broker through the competitive contracting process and in compliance with all compensation and disclosure requirements set forth in this Ordinance, the Insurance Broker or Consultant may procure Insurance on the City's behalf through the Insurance Exception to public bidding which exception shall be in compliance with the requirements for extraordinary unspecifiable services, N.J.S.A. 40A:11-5(m) and must comply with paragraphs (d) through (l) and (n) of this Ordinance.
