AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23:5-5.1, FOUR (4) HOUR PARKING FOR NONRESIDENTIAL VEHICLES, OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY ADDING ELM STREET, IN THE EAST WARD.


Body
WHEREAS, the Division of Traffic and Signals as per the request of the residents and business owners wishes to limit parking to four (4) hours on both sides of Elm Street, in the East Ward, between NJ Railroad Avenue and Union Street/Pacific Street, for vehicles without a residential parking permit, and

WHEREAS, the parking limitation will increase and improve traffic flow and encourage parking space turnover for residents, visitors, businesses and customers.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

Section 1. That Section 23:5-5.1, Four Hour Parking for Nonresidential Vehicles, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended by adding thereto the following:

Elm Street, between NJ Railroad Avenue and Union Street
Northside, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Elm Street, between NJ Railroad Avenue and Pacific Street
Southside, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Section 2. Any existing ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.

Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.

Section 4. This ordinance does not require approval by the Commissioner of Transportation.
