Whereas, Ordinance 6PSF-E, May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
Whereas, Sandy Grossman, a national television sports icon and eight time Emmy Award winning sports director with over 30 plus years with CBS Sports and Fox Sports, directed 10 Super Bowls, 18 NBA Finals, Four NHL Finals, NCAA tournaments, and many Olympic events and ceremonies, was a native of Newark who attended Peshine Avenue School and Weequahic High School; and
Whereas, the Newark Municipal Council would like to commemorate his sterling achievements in television by renaming the intersection of Bergen Street and Scheerer Avenue in his honor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the renaming of the corner of Bergen Street and Scheerer Avenue as Sandy Grossman Way for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
2. The names of said streets shall remain Bergen Street and Scheerer Avenue in their entirety.
