WHEREAS, Mr. Daniel Jara, was the founding President of the Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, which represented over 72,000 small businesses in New Jersey and the Philadelphia area, and presided over the organization as its president for over 20 years; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Municipal Council would like to commemorate his achievements by renaming the intersection of James Street and Washington Street in his honor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT, it does hereby authorize the renaming of the corner of James Street and Washington Street to “Daniel Jara
Way” for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
1. Naming of the corner of James Street and Washington Street as “Daniel Jara Way” for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
2. The names of said streets shall remain James Street and Washington Street in their entirety.
