WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-E, May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
WHEREAS, Elvin Padilla, was a native of Newark and dedicated community activist who was employed several years by the City of Newark; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Municipal Council would like to commemorate his community accomplishments by renaming the intersection of Summer Avenue and Elwood Avenue in his honor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the renaming of the corner of Summer Avenue and Elwood Avenue as Elvin Padilla Way for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
2. The names of said streets shall remain Summer Avenue and Elwood Avenue in their entirety.
