Title

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23:2-1, ONE-WAY STREETS, OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY AMENDING THE ONE-WAY STREET DESIGNATION ON HAWTHORNE AVENUE BETWEEN ELIZABETH AVENUE AND ELIZABETH PLACE.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering, Division of Traffic and Signals, desire to change the two-way designation of Hawthorne Avenue between Elizabeth Avenue and Elizabeth Place, to  one-way east bound; and

 

WHEREAS, the change in the traffic pattern on Hawthorne Avenue was one of the recommendations of the Department of Engineering, Division of Traffic and Signals, to the Zoning Board of Adjustment for the Popeye’s and Burger King Project.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

 

                     Section 1.  That Section 23:2-1, One-Way Streets, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended by adding thereto the following:

 

                     Hawthorne Avenue, east bound, from Elizabeth Avenue and Elizabeth Place

 

                     Section 2.  Any ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.

 

                     Section 3.  This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.

                     

Section 4.  This ordinance does not require approval by the Commissioner of Transportation.

 

STATEMENT

This ordinance designates Hawthorne Avenue between Elizabeth Avenue and Elizabeth Place as  one-way east bound.
