Whereas, Ordinance 6PSF-E, May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
Whereas, Elder Tony Rozier, has been a prominent and influential spiritual leader in the City of Newark and dedicated his ministry to the uplifting of the downtrodden and provided clothing, sheltering and spiritual nourishment to countless Newark residents; and
Whereas, the Newark Municipal Council would like to commemorate his unselfish dedication to Newark’s underclass by renaming the intersection Grove Street and Ferdinand Street in his honor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby authorize and ratify the renaming of the corner of Grove Street and Ferdinand Street as Elder Tony Rozier Way for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
2. The names of said streets shall remain Bergen Street and Scheerer Avenue in their entirety.
