Whereas, Ordinance 6PSF-E, 052015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for deceased persons for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
Whereas, Joseph Del Grosso, union activist and longtime President of the Newark Teachers Union, the largest local teachers union in the State of New Jersey, contributed greatly to the civic, economic and political progress of the City of Newark community and its residents; and
Whereas, the Newark Municipal Council would like to commemorate his achievements and contributions by renaming the intersection of West Kinney Street and Broad Street in his honor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the renaming of the corner of West Kinney Street and Broad Street as Joseph Del Grosso Way, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
2. The names of said streets shall remain West Kinney Street and Broad Street in their entirety.
