Whereas, the City of Newark has a very large and vibrant Puerto Rican community which has historically contributed greatly to the social, economic and political growth and progress of the City; and
Whereas, the Newark Puerto Rican Day Parade, which is New Jersey’s largest and oldest parade and festival, pays tribute to the rich culture heritage of Puerto Ricans, and to their continuing success and progress in the City of Newark, both past and present; and
Whereas, the Newark Municipal Council is proud to sponsor and support the 2015 Puerto Rican Day Parade Festival being held at Broadway, Verona Avenue and Mill Street on Sunday, September 20, 2015.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby support the Puerto Rican Day Parade Festival being held at Broadway, Verona Avenue and Mill Street being held Sunday, September 20, 2015.
