TITLE

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23:5-5.1, FOUR HOUR PARKING FOR NONRESIDENTIAL VEHICLES, OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY ADDING THE WESTSIDE OF SPRING STREET BETWEEN CLAY STREET AND 8TH AVENUE.

WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering wishes to limit parking to four (4) hours on the west side of Spring Street between Clay Street and 8th Avenue for vehicles without a residential parking permit, and

 

WHEREAS, the parking limitation will increase and improve traffic flow and encourage parking space turnover for residents, visitors, businesses and customers.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

 

                     Section 1.  That Section 23:5-5.1, Four Hour Parking for Nonresidential Vehicles, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended by adding thereto the following:

 

Spring Street between Clay Street and 8th Avenue

West side,   (Hours:  24hrs.  / Days:  Monday-Sunday)

 

                     Section 2.  Any existing ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.

 

      Section 3.  This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.

 

Section 4.  This ordinance does not require approval by the Commissioner of Transportation.

 

Statement

 

This ordinance limits vehicles that do not possess a residential permit to a four (4) hour parking limitation at any of the parking spaces along the west side of Spring Street between Clay Street and 8th Avenue, 24hrs., Monday through Sunday. Vehicles with a permit shall be exempt from the time limitations and parking meter fees.
