WHEREAS, the City of Newark (the City) has offered the Italian American War Veterans of the United States the use of Room B-28 in City Hall for the organization along with several other Newark based veterans service organizations to reestablish the Commission for Veteran's Affairs, which will assist veterans who are homeless, unemployed, and suffering from various health and psychological problems like Traumatic Brain Injury and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder; and
WHEREAS, The Home Depot, Store 0980, 399-443 Springfield Avenue, Newark, New Jersey 07103, is providing materials and labor for the rehabilitation of Room B-28 in City Hall through their Team Depot program; and
WHEREAS, the work consists of the rehabilitation to three (3) offices to be performed under the direction of the Director of Engineering (a copy of a letter describing the work to be performed is attached); and
WHEREAS, the gift of materials and labor is valued at ten thousand six hundred three dollars and eighty-seven cents ($10,603.87) (The Home Depot quotes attached); and
WHEREAS, the Mayor, the Director of Engineering, and Municipal Council believe it is in the best interests of the City of Newark to accept this gift on behalf of the City; and
