AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23:15-1, STOP INTERSECTIONS, OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY DESIGNATING MONTGOMERY STREET AND PRINCE STREET A STOP SIGN INTERSECTION.

                     

Body

WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering,  Division of Traffic and Signals, desires to improve safety by designating Montgomery Street and Prince Street as a stop sign intersection, and requiring drivers to stop on Montgomery Street before traveling on Prince Street.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

 

                     Section 1.  That Section 23:15-1, Stop Intersections, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended by adding the following:

 

                     Montgomery Street and Prince Street with vehicles stopping on Montgomery Street

                     

                     Section 2.  Any ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.

 

                     Section 3.   This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.

 

Section 4.  This ordinance does not require approval by the Commissioner of Transportation.

 

STATEMENT

 

This ordinance establishes the intersection of Montgomery Street and Prince Street as a stop sign intersection and requires drivers to stop on Montgomery Street before entering Prince Street.
