WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-120 et seq., the City of Newark is authorized to appoint up to fifty (50) Constables for a term of three (3) years, unless the Council, by resolution, fixes a one (1) year term; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark wishes to appoint a Constable with a term of three (3) years.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. Ronnie Eugene Kellam, of 134 North 13th Street, 1st Floor, Newark, New Jersey 07107, be and is hereby appointed as a Constable, in accordance with his application to serve civil and criminal warrants, summonses, complaints, repossessions, lockouts and writs.
2. Prior to carrying out the duties of his office and no later than thirty (30) days after the effective date of the appointment, the aforesaid appointee shall submit a Constable Bond, which shall be approved as to form, amount and sufficiency of Surety by resolution of the Newark Municipal Council.
3. This appointment shall be for a term of three (3) years from the date of appointment or the expiration of the Constable Bond, whichever occurs first.
